National Children’s Alliance
National Children’s Alliance (NCA) is a professional membership organization that equips local children’s advocacy centers, multidisciplinary teams and child abuse professionals with the support and technical assistance to respond appropriately and effectively to allegations of child abuse or neglect. By facilitating coordinated investigations and intervention services through the multidisciplinary team approach and through local children’s advocacy centers, NCA helps communities ensure that children are not re-victimized by the very system designed to protect them.

National Children’s Alliance was founded in 1987 by former Congressman Bud Cramer, then District Attorney of Madison County Alabama, in response to the needs of a growing number of facility-based child abuse intervention programs and the demand for guidance from grassroots organizations working with child victims.

Today, NCA is a membership organization providing accreditation and grants services to more than 777 children’s advocacy centers across the United States, as well as numerous developing centers, multidisciplinary teams and child abuse professionals.

CNCAC is proud to be one of those 777 accredited child advocacy centers who provides the ten core componesnts to child victims and non-offending family members

Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
Central Nebraska Child Advocacy Center (CNCAC) is required to coordinate a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to response and address cases of child abuse and sexual asault. The MDT is required by Nebraska State Statute 28-728 and shall meet on a regular basis as deemed appropriate by the team in each county. The MDT shall consist of individuals from law enforcement, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, county attonreys, school persoonel, mental health practitioners, medical professionals, child advocacy representatives, and a variety of other community groups and organizations who can provide valuable input to better serve child-victims.

Cultural Competency & Diversity
CNCAC shall provide all child victims and non-offending family members in a culturally sensitive and competent manner and with respect. CNCAC exceeds this standard through having a Cultural Compentency and Diversity Plan that is reviewed and revised, if needed on an annual bais. CNCAC is pleased to provide services to child victims and non-offending family membes by having a Child and Family Services Advocate on staff who is bilingual and offering brochures in Spanish.

Forensic Interviews
CNCAC provides forensic interviews for each child that is referred by law enforcement, Department of Health and Human Services, and/or county attorneys. It is essential that all families and members of the community are aware that each forensic interview conducted is a discussion between the forensic interviewer and the child that is based on securing facts, all while within a relaxed child-friendly environment. All forensic interviews are video and audio recorded to ensure the most legally bound results, and in an effort to ensure a child only needs to be interviewed once.

Victim Support and Advocacy
CNCAC provides a wide array of support and advocacy to each child victim and non-offending family member served at the Center. These services may include: on-going support and advocacy, referral services, case management, deposition and court preparation, and a variety of other services tailored to the needs of each child and non-offending family member.

Medical Evaluations
CNCAC prides itself on having the necessary services available to child victims and non-offending family members on site, without having them have to travel to multiple agencies to receive appropriate services. CNCAC provides forensic medical examinations, forensic sexual assault examinations and wellness examinations to children seen at the Center at no cost to them. The Center is fortunate to have qualified trained register nurses and a physician who serves as the Center’s medical director.

Mental Health
To ensure that each child victim and non-offending family member receives the appropriate counseling services, CNCAC has established linkage agreements with mental health providers. CNCAC has coordinated with various therapists who can assist with each child victim and non-offending family member’s unique financial means by accepting various insurance and on a sliding scale as needed and as qualified.

Case Review
One of the primary roles of CNCAC is to coordinate the MDT meetings within their eleven counties to collaborate with investigations, treatment and a variety of other services that may be needed. CNCAC is pleased to have the honor to work with such great professionals from law enforcement, Department of Health and Human Services, county attorneys, therapists, school personnel and a variety of other community professionals.

Case Tracking
CNCAC shall track all cases that are involved in both non-court and the court system in accordance with Nebraska State Statute 28-728.

Organizational Capacity
CNCAC shall administer a program that is compliant of all NCA standards, Nebraska State Statutes, and all Federal guidelines. The Center is monitored by a Board of Directors for it’s organizational, fiscal, and programatic responsibilities and expectations to the children and the professionals within it’s coverage area.

Child-Focused Setting
CNCAC provides a comfortable, private, and both physically and psychologically safe for diverse populations of children and their non-offending family members.
